  • Visit of Dr. Fabian Jaksic (Director of CASEB), Dr. Francisco Bozinovic (Head, Department of Ecology) to the Republic of South Africa, Dr. Sergio Castro (ex-doctoral student of CASEB), and Gabriel Lobos (current doctoral student of CASEB ) invited by the Center of Excellence for Invasion Biology (CIB), Stellenbosch: (a) To set up an academic exchange-agreement between CASEB and CIB for scientists, postdocs, and graduate students. (b) To devise collaborative research on biotic homogenization of mediterranean floras. AGREEMENTS AND COOPERATION
  • Memorandum of Agreement and Cooperation between the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, University of Connecticut, U.S.A., and the Department of Ecology and the Center for Advanced Studies in Ecology and Biodiversity, Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile, Santiago, Chile. We dedicate ourselves to a collaborative effort in biodiversity and conservation providing mutual benefit. 26 August 2002.
  • Report on the creation of an Associate International Laboratory between scientists from the Station Biologique de Roscoff (France) and from the Center for Advanced Studies in Ecology and Biodiversity (CASEB Programs 4, 6 & 7). French researchers in population genetics and molecular ecology will be available for graduate teaching and co-supervision of Ph.D. theses of CASEB students. 03 to 05 March 2003.
  • Dr. Juan Correa's Laboratory (CASEB Program 7), became a partner of the European Union-funded initiative under Framework VI ("Networks of Excellence"). The NoE in reference is known by the acronym of "Marine Genomics" and its activities will be funded under the Global Change and Ecosystems area of Framework VI. This NoE includes researchers from Denmark, Greece, Italy, Israel, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom. 24 June 2003. Marine Genomics (pdf)
  • In September 2003, Drs. Fabian Jaksic and Francisco Bozinovic formed part of an official delegation to Zagreb led by CONICYT’s President, Dr. Eric Goles, to draft a memorandum of understanding between Chile & Croatia’s science institutions within the context of the workshop "Croatia and Chile: Scientific Contact Days.” In October 2004, Drs. Fabian Jaksic and Francisco Bozinovic made a second official visit to Zagreb, to draft the schedule and program of the follow-up binational workshop, which took effect in Santiago during October 2005. This workshop was coordinated by Dr. Fabian Jaksic and occurred simultaneously with the visit of Croatia’s President Mr. Stjepan Mesic to Chile’s President Ricardo Lagos, who signed a cooperation protocol between their respective countries.
