| Since December 2004 CASEB has been under contract by Arauco's Valdivia Papermill to provide expert advice on environmental impacts of the pulp plant on the surrounding wetlands near Valdivia, Chile. CASEB scientists with the necessary expertise have been running two monitoring schemes (water quality standards and ecotoxicology) and three specific studies (on swan feeding and nutrition, on waterbird population numbers, and on experimental mesocosms). This contract is still ongoing.
In April 2006, CASEB was contracted by Arauco, Inc. to monitor emissions to the ocean of the Nueva Aldea Papermill near Concepcion, Chile. This contract is still ongoing.
From June 2006 to December 2007 CASEB was under contract by Price-Waterhouse-Coopers to audit environmentally the baseline studies being prepared by independent consultants in Aysen, Chile, with reference to a potential hydroelectrical development in that largely undeveloped region. This audit ended December 2007.
